The calculation uses the Gregorian calendar, which is the standard civil calendar in the UK and most of the world. It counts complete calendar months and adjusts for months of different lengths, so a person born on 31 January is considered to turn one month older on 28 February (or 29 February in a leap year). The tool does not apply any jurisdiction-specific legal interpretation of age — for legal matters such as licensing, benefits entitlement, or pension eligibility, you should verify the precise rule with the relevant authority or a qualified adviser. Results are based on the dates you enter and assume no adjustment for time zones.
